Fees at Keppel Bay Medical Centre

We are a mixed billing service.

Fees within our practice are based on the time your doctor spends on your care.  These fees allow us to continue providing our patients with quality health care. 

  • All appointments – face to face or telehealth will incur a fee.

  • Out of pocket payment is required for certain procedures including dressing and minor procedures.

  • Prior to any procedure, the patient will be informed of any potential treatment costs during the initial consult.

  • Pre-employment Medicals and Driving Licence Medicals are not covered by Medicare and costs will occur.

  • Appointment time is for the scheduled patient, if you have a family member attending with you and they would also like a consultation with the Doctor, they will require a separate scheduled appointment.

  • Patients are required to pay for the fee of their consultation in full at the end of the appointment.

  • All Saturday’s consultations (Face to face or Telehealth) are privately charged.

 

Bulk Billing

We offer a bulk billing (Monday to Friday only) for eligible patients only where the consultation is less than 12 minutes.  Eligible patients include:

  • Children 15 years old and under

  • Health Care Card holders

  • Pension Card holders

  • DVA Gold Card Holders

Consultations over this time will incur a fee above the Medicare rebate amount and you will incur an out-of-pocket expense as per below table.  Full payment of fee is expected at end of consultation, afterwhich Medicare Rebate (if eligible) will be processed.

Note – Different rebates may apply to DVA Gold Card Holders.  GP Chronic Health Management plans and Health assessments are bulk- billed.

No Bulk Billing on Weekends and Public Holidays – out of pocket fees applies to all patients

For private billed patients

Payment by EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa and cash is due at time of consultation. We do not take cheques, AMEX, Diner’s Club or Bankcard. We are happy to discuss bulk billing in long-term illnesses or in periods of financial hardship. Please speak to your doctor.

*Please note there may be bank surcharge for some card transaction.

For your convenience, at the completion of your consultation, we can process your Medicare claim immediately into your savings or cheque account (via EFTPOS) or send it to Medicare to have the refund reimbursed into your nominated bank account.

  • Appointments can be made online, by phone or in person. Walk in appointments are welcome when there is capacity.

  • Our appointment system caters for urgent, non-urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative healthcare. If you require a longer appointment, for example, if you have complex conditions, multiple issues and counselling please book a long consultation online or ask at time of booking for a longer appointment.

  • We do keep spots available in the daily appointment schedule for urgent appointments. If you require an urgent appointment please call our friendly staff on 07 4800 2000.

  • If you are a person experiencing a life threatening emergency, such as chest pain call the ambulance on 000. All Queensland residents are covered for Ambulance transport to hospital.

  • For medical emergencies please call 000 or attend the Capricorn Coast Hospital located at 8 Hoskyn Drive – Phone - 4913 3000.

  • If you are a new patient to the centre please arrive 15 minutes prior to your doctors' appointment. This enables you time to complete the Patient Registration and Consent Form

  • We understand that sometimes things happen and that you may need to reschedule your appointment. In these cases we ask that you provide us with at least 4 business hours notice prior to your appointment time so that we can attempt to fit another patient in. If you do not contact us please note that we may charge you a non-attendance fee.

    A fee of $40 may be charged for non-attendance and is payable before another consult is booked. This fee is non-rebatable through Medicare.

  • As we are conscious of running on time, please be aware that if you arrive late for your appointment with your Doctor the following may occur:

    - Your appointment time may be shorter – so that we don’t run late for other patients.

    - We may reschedule to another time that day (if there is a spare spot)

    - We may reschedule you to another day
